Katonah Residence “Project of the Day” on Architizer

I am thrilled that my Katonah Residence Project is being featured today (4.26.15) on the Architizer website as their “Project of the Day”. Architizer is a great venue for Architects and features exceptional work from around the world. katonah-residence

A great big thanks to Lucille Sacchi-Munz (landscape architecture), Danielle D’Anna (interior design), Mike Barry (structural) and Ari Burling (photography) without whom I would not have been able to do the project! We also had the best possible client to work with!

Katonah Residence Landscaping

Great landscape and entrance design by my friend Lucille Munz ASLA for the Katonah house. It even looks good on a rainy murky day. The bluestone slabs are each 6′ x 6′ x 2″ with Corten steel edging and look like they are floating in the landscape.

Katonah Residence Finishes

Katonah Residence nearing completion. On the interior we have red oak floors (radiant) which are a combination of vertical grain and rift sawn oak. The exposed beams are douglas fir and the bedroom ceiling is vertical grain douglas fir. All the built-ins are birch veneer plywood painted with the exception of the counters and shelves which are finished naturally with oak nosing’s. The exterior siding is all cypress to match the existing house with an ipe’ deck and railings.

Katonah Residence Construction

Cypress siding installation, bluestone pavers with cor-ten steel planters and edging.
